Headed to Helena and picked up a lone Cackling Goose that’s been hanging with the local Canada Geese, then attempted to make the drive from Cascade to White Sulphur Springs via Milligan road. Amazing terrain with stunning vistas looking North along the Rocky Mountain Front. We almost made it, but were turned back by a deep snow drift at the high point of the drive. Many Rough-legged Hawks and Horned Larks, as well as Pronghorn Antelope. We backtracked, then dropped down to White Sulphur Springs from Great Falls, South through the Shields Valley and to Belgrade for the night at Super 8. I hadn’t stayed in one for years, and now I know why. Never again!
