A quick trip to Butte after seeing an eBird rare bird alert for Chestnut-sided Warbler gave me my 10th life bird of the year! A big thank you to Carmen Winslow, who I sent a DM and who replied with detailed advice on where to park and the bird’s location. We parked at the Butte Chamber of Commerce and strolled West down the nature trail paralleling the highway and within a few minutes Di spotted the bird singing and foraging in a willow. As I locked my bins onto the bird the full effect of seeing this species kicked in, along with that life bird high! With a lime green cap and bright chestnut flanks this singing male just blew my mind.
